Bitrise vs Codemagic
Bitrise and Codemagic are both CI/CD services for mobile apps that run builds on Apple silicon Macs and Linux machines. Bitrise also rents remote dev environments that keep their disk and can run Claude Code, while Codemagic sticks to builds that end within 120 minutes, adds Windows machines and bills by the minute.
The companies and products
Bitrise
Bitrise is a mobile CI/CD platform that builds, tests and ships iOS and Android apps on its own Mac and Linux machines.
Bitrise is a different kind of product: a CI service. Each build runs in its own virtual machine from a Bitrise stack, and the machine is rolled back after the build. Since 2026 it also sells Remote Dev Environments, macOS and Linux sessions with a persistent disk where you can start Claude Code from a CLI or drive the machine through an MCP server. It is built for mobile teams.

Codemagic
Codemagic is a cloud CI/CD service built for mobile developers: it builds, tests and publishes iOS, Android, Flutter and React Native apps.
You describe a workflow in codemagic.yaml, and each build runs on a new virtual machine: an Apple silicon Mac mini with Xcode, an Ubuntu Linux machine, or a Windows machine. The machine is destroyed when the build finishes, and the result can go straight to App Store Connect, Google Play and other stores. It is built for app teams that want builds and code signing handled for them; it is a different kind of product from an agent sandbox, and the two overlap only where an agent needs a machine for a short, scripted job.
Which use cases each one fits
For each use case, Battleships prices every sandbox provider on the same workload and sorts them from the cheapest monthly bill up. “38th cheapest of 367” means 37 of the other 366 providers run that workload, with every feature it needs, for less. “With limits” means the provider runs it but misses something, so it is listed after every full match. Open a use case for its whole ranking and what each provider misses.

Performance
There is no comparable measurement for Bitrise or Codemagic: neither has a result in the public StarSling sandbox benchmark we use, so we do not compare their speeds. bochka did 26.69 Node.js build-and-test runs per second at 4 vCPU / 8 GB in StarSling's run of 2026-09-29.
Node.js build-and-test loop at 4 vCPU / 8 GB, higher is better. Measured with the open hpc-sandbox-benchmarks suite. Bitrise and Codemagic have no published run in this suite yet, so there is no like-for-like number to compare.
Pricing in five scenarios
Each bill is priced from the providers' public price lists by the open Battleships engine, with the cheapest plan that runs the scenario.
| Scenario | Bitrise, a month | Codemagic, a month | bochka, a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| One coding agent, workdays 4 vCPU / 8 GB, 50 GB disk, 8 hours a day, 22 days a month, files kept between days | $260 · Pro · with limits | $333 · Free (individual) · with limits | $20 · $20/mo |
| One agent that never stops 4 vCPU / 8 GB, 50 GB disk, running 24/7 all month | $119 · RDE Pro · with limits | $333 · Free (individual) · with limits | $26 · $20/mo |
| 50 agents in parallel 50 machines of 4 vCPU / 8 GB at once, 8-hour sessions, 1,100 sessions a month, Docker inside | $2,309 · Pro · with limits | $21,531 · Pay as you go (team, 4 concurrent) · with limits | $317 · $20/mo × 3 seats |
| Sandboxes for your users 2 vCPU / 4 GB, 30,000 sessions of 10 minutes a month, up to 300 at once | $812 · Pro · with limits | $12,297 · Pay as you go (team, 4 concurrent) · with limits | $200 · $100/mo × 2 seats |
| 1,000 short jobs at once 2 vCPU / 4 GB, 1,000 at once, 3 minutes each, 200,000 jobs a month | $1,538 · Pro · with limits | $27,147 · Pay as you go (team, 4 concurrent) · with limits | $2,000 · $2000/mo · with limits |
Bitrise: Bitrise CI is sold by plan: Starter is a flat fee with unlimited minutes on Medium machines, and Pro adds per-minute machine time and a monthly build allowance on top of its fee. Remote dev environments charge a base fee with some included minutes, then per minute up to a monthly cap per OS.
Codemagic: Codemagic bills build minutes: $0.095 a minute on a Mac mini M2, $0.114 on an M4 and $0.045 on Linux X2 or Windows. Each extra build running at once costs $49 a month, and fixed annual plans start at $3,990 a year for unlimited minutes on 3 builds at once.
Codemagic: You pick a monthly plan from $20, and all of it becomes usage credit spent per second on running sandboxes. A stopped sandbox costs nothing and keeps its disk.
Limits in those scenarios
Neither Bitrise nor Codemagic fits any of the five agent scenarios we priced, because both are CI services. Bitrise CI builds time out at 210 minutes and Pro runs at most 10 macOS or 30 Linux builds at once. Codemagic builds stop within 120 minutes and delete their files, and Pay as you go starts at one build at a time with more slots at $49 a month each, on Linux machines no smaller than 8 vCPU / 32 GB. Bitrise dev environments avoid the timeout but run only 1 to 5 VMs per tier. On bochka the one scenario that does not fit is the 1,000-job burst, which needs more starts per minute and per day than the $2,000 plan allows, so it gets queued.

Which one should you use?
Use Bitrise when
you build iOS or Android apps and also want Mac or Linux dev machines that keep their disk, more regions, or a setup inside your own AWS account.
- Dev machines that keep their disk. Useful if developers or agents need a Mac or Linux machine for days: Bitrise dev environments keep a persistent disk.
- Agents on a Mac desktop. Useful if an agent must test iOS apps: Bitrise starts Claude Code from its CLI and an MCP server controls the macOS desktop.
- More regions and self-hosting. Useful if you need machines in Asia Pacific or inside your own AWS account, or want to run Bitrise Runners yourself.
Use Codemagic when
you build, sign and publish iOS, Android, Flutter or Windows apps, want to pay by the build minute, and your builds finish within two hours.
- Windows build machines. Useful if you also ship Windows apps: Codemagic offers Windows machines next to its Macs and Linux, and publishes to the Microsoft Store.
- Simple per-minute billing. Useful for small teams: Codemagic charges per build minute with no base fee, and individuals get 500 free Mac mini minutes a month.
- Store publishing built in. Useful if you release often: Codemagic signs builds and publishes straight to App Store Connect, TestFlight and Google Play.
Where bochka fits
Bitrise and Codemagic are built to build, sign and ship mobile apps, and bochka is not a CI service. If what you are really running is agents on Linux, such as coding agents, browser agents or servers they build, bochka gives each one a full VM that keeps running and keeps its files. Keep iOS builds on a Mac service; bochka has no macOS.
A machine that keeps running and keeps its files
Codemagic stops every build within 120 minutes and deletes the machine, and Bitrise CI builds time out at 210 minutes. Bitrise dev sessions keep a disk, but it is not backed up. bochka has no session cap on paid plans and snapshots every minute.
Agents you drive from outside
On Codemagic an agent can only be a build step you wait on, and on Bitrise you work with Claude Code in a terminal. bochka preinstalls Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode and lets you prompt, steer and read events through an API.
Open ports, Docker everywhere and forks
Neither gives a public URL for a port, so an agent cannot show the app it built without your own tunnel, and neither can fork a machine. bochka serves HTTPS on up to 50 ports, takes raw TCP, and runs Docker and /dev/kvm on every machine.
Use bochka when what you are running is agents on Linux that need a full VM for days, with Docker, snapshots every minute, forks, open ports and coding agents you drive from outside. Compare it one to one: bochka vs Bitrise and bochka vs Codemagic.
Questions people ask
Is Bitrise cheaper than Codemagic?
In the five agent scenarios we priced, Bitrise came out lower each time, for example $260 against $333 for one coding agent on workdays and $2,309 against $21,531 for 50 agents in parallel. Neither fits those scenarios, so these are the closest setups, not like-for-like products. bochka came to $20 and $317 for the same two.
Which is faster, Bitrise or Codemagic?
We have no comparable measurement: neither is in the public StarSling benchmark we use. bochka did 26.69 Node.js build-and-test runs per second at 4 vCPU / 8 GB in that benchmark.
Can Bitrise and Codemagic run Docker?
Both run Docker and Android emulators on their Linux machines, but not on macOS, because Apple's virtualization has no nested virtualization. bochka runs Docker, systemd and /dev/kvm on every machine.
Can I run AI coding agents on Bitrise or Codemagic?
On Bitrise, yes, in remote dev environments: its CLI starts a session and Claude Code, and you work with it in a terminal. On Codemagic an agent can only run as a step inside a build that stops within 120 minutes. On bochka the agents are preinstalled and you drive them through an API.
Does Bitrise or Codemagic offer Windows machines?
Codemagic does: it has Windows build machines billed by the minute and can publish to the Microsoft Store. Bitrise offers macOS and Linux, and bochka runs Linux only.
Is bochka SOC 2 compliant?
SOC 2 is in progress. We're open about where we stand: live status at status.bochka.xyz and our data retention policy at docs.bochka.xyz/data-retention.
